The Today Show on NBC took a look at the current console war with their resident Tech Editor Paul Hochman. I know, “uh oh…” right?
Starting with the 360, Hochman pointed out that the system has the best games out and coming up this year, citing the upcoming Halo 3 game. As for the PlayStation 3, he states that Sony is using the console as a Trojan Horse for Blu-ray, saying “Sony figured, ‘It worked out well for the Greeks, let’s do it ourselves.’” Wired’s Susan Arendt responds to the statement saying that Sony hasn’t yet confirmed their strategy was based on military tactics. I’m inclined to think that it was arrogance this time, and will be military tactics next time.
As for the Wii, the facts weren’t botched up as much as they were for the other systems. Hochman pointed out that while the Wii is #2 right now, it’s rising fast and Nintendo is doing everything they can to meet the demand. Just like every other news broadcasting of a Wii segment, the team went ahead and played Wii Sports on the air, when NBC’s Al Roker apparently didn’t like his Mii not having arms.
