Contra 4 and Galaxy nominated for E3 Game Critics Awards
With the post E3 lull in full effect, the nominees for the 2007 Game Critics Awards have been announced. Super Mario Galaxy is nominated for Best Console Game and Best Action/Adventure Game, while Wii Fit swipes up both the Best Hardware and Best Original Game nominations. As for Best Handheld Game, Phantom Hourglass (last year’s Best Handheld Game award) and Contra 4 send out the DS love. That’s right, Contra 4! I can definitely get used to this retro resurgence in gaming. Just be sure to give me a new 2D Metroid sometime soon.
So why was Nintendo completely snubbed for Best of Show? Every nomination (Bioshock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Fallout 3, Mass Effect, and Rock Band) will be heading to the 360, while our tiny Wiis sit idle on the sideline. Poor Reggie, he thought that Galaxy would take Best of Show. Turn that frown upside down Reggie, everybody knows that the true kudos come rolling in with the end of the year awards- so shoot those stars!
Winners will be announced this Tuesday.
