There are a countless amount of great ways to market video games. The first that comes to mind are the Wii kiosks that Nintendo set up in several Westfield malls last holiday season, with my mall being one of them. These kiosks were always packed with people wanting to try out the Wii. Just about everytime I passed by, there was a parent asking one of the workers, “where can I buy a Wii” or “why can’t I buy one in stores…can’t you just sell me one?” There is no doubt that Nintendo put on a very successful marketing campaign with those hands-on kiosks, since by the end of the holiday season, the Wii was just far too hot to find on store shelves. Oh wait, it still is.
Then there is the Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day campaign in Greece. What better way is there to promote a brain training game than by having women dress as nurses for some hardcore math and counting mini-game demonstrating on the beach? For once, the skimpy nurse outfit falls into the overdressed category on the beach.
Ok, so I’m still trying to figure out why the nurse outfit was used, aside from the Dr. Kawasima reference. It’s all Greek to me.
