Just in time for tonight’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl update, we have a video comparing stills of Melee and Brawl. I didn’t think it’d be worth watching the whole thing and posting, because I own Melee and thought, “OK, it’ll be marginally better. Slightly better character models, cleaner polygon edges, etc.” Right? WRONG.
I don’t ever remember Melee looking so dated and bland. But I guess it took a direct comparison to realize just how bad Melee looks in comparison to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What I’m worried about is that none of the Brawl videos looked this great over Melee in motion. Will all this work that Sakurai’s team is putting into visuals go unappreciated?
