Early figure for last week’s software sales in Japan are in, and Phantom Hourglass, the biggest game on the DS right now, was knocked into second place by – get this – a Wii game!
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors moved 302,066 in its first week, by far the best debut for a Wii game in Japan yet. The sales eclipsed Phantom Hourglass’ 70,610-unit week, and is even over half that of Phantom Hourglass‘ 602,244 total since its June 23rd debut. The new Dragon Quest Swords game also helped to boost Wii sales to about 104,897 units for the week, compared to 135,791 DS units sold in the same time.
At #3 was My Housekeeping Diary (DS), followed by Wii Sports closing in on the 2-million mark. Vision Training in Minutes a Day for the DS comes in at number five, Rockman ZX Advent (DS) at six, Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol (DS) at #7, Super Robot Wars: Original Generations (PS2) at #8, Wii Play at #9, and Monster Farm DS rounding out the top ten.
Expect official Media Crate numbers on Thursday evening.
