A new Wiimote charger? Thanko-you!

In these troubled times of world turmoil and brutal government dishonesty, there is at least one thing that has remained true throughout the past few months- there is absolutely no shortage of Wii accessories. Sure, most of them suck, but one accessory looks surprisingly intriguing to me after today’s adventures.

As many of you know by now, I have just moved into a new apartment. Well, today was my “set up your TV and video games, fool” day in my room. If the above photo is any indication, my shiny faux wood tv stand is screaming for some organization- and after replacing all my Wiimote batteries, the little buggers are also begging for a more economical way to get their juice fix. Just when all hope seemed to be lost, Japanese designer Thanko has released a Wiimote charger that not only serves as a charger (duh), but also as storage for a couple of Nunchucks and discs (although the mere thought of storing my discs in this manner just makes me cringe).

The charger is powered by those severely underused USB ports on the back of your Wii (Seriously Nintendo, just release the hard drive already) and will give your Wiimotes around 30 hours of playtime in a quick 4 hour charge. I absolutely love the design of this thing. Not only does one of the angles make the setup look like a robot, but it is also quite compact, which makes me want to buy two. Or three. There is no word on a US release, but it looks like it will remain as import only, so be prepared to shell out at least $40 plus the standard import markup for one of these babies.
