A trip down memory lane: Paper Mario commercial

In celebration of today’s release of Paper Mario for the Virtual Console, I took an adventure through YouTube hell to bring you this very retro television spot for the game. If there is one thing that makes me feel old, it’s video games. It just seems natural for me to watch these videos and go, “Oh yeah, I remember that on tv!”- but then I start to remember when Super Mario RPG came out on the SNES, then I remember the thrill of spending endless nights trying to perfect all the fatalities in Mortal Kombat II, and before I realize it, I start to have flashbacks of playing the original Zelda on my living room floor at the ripe age of 3. Geez, I should start looking into life insurance or something. Does anybody else have these video game geezer moments?

    What gets me going is playing Gears of War on the 360, then remembering how far games have come since I got my first system; the NES.

    I can’t believe it’s been over 6 years since it came out… I remember this commercial exactly. If there’s anything else that gives me that nostalgia feeling you describe, it’s commercials.

    Like that Super Smash Bros. commercial that made its rounds around the internet a few months ago for the 64. I remember that thing like it was the value menu at Taco Bell.
