While I have a completely Asian (Filipino) background, I’m more what my friends seem to call a “twinkie.” Growing up your entire life in upper-middle class Suburbia within a predominantly white neighborhood can really have an effect on you. As such, I can only speak English, I don’t really know anything about Filipino culture, and I choose not to eat Asian food.
Oddly enough, if there’s anything I think Asians seem to inherently know how to do, it’s Origami. It’s not something I really do, but I seem to be able to naturally know how to fold paper whenever someone asks me to do it for them or show them how. Soon, though, I’ll be able to recommend they import TDK’s new Origami game instead. The game shows the paper and where to make creases via the top screen, with a video demonstration on the bottom (that you can play, pause, rewind, etc). It’s got the traditional crane for beginners, and a total of about 100 projects of various difficulties for you once you’ve decided it’s time to move on.
I wonder, though. Are they going to be nice enough to maybe bundle 100 pieces of pre-cut paper for you to use? Or am I still going to have to use the triangle technique to make perfect squares for people?
