We won’t have official numbers until later this week, but initial reports are suggesting that The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass moved 250,000 copies on only its first day of sales this past Saturday, the 23rd.
With Nintendo really trying to reinvent the series and move Zelda into new directions, Phantom Hourglass was the first true game in this rebirth. If the first-day sales estimate holds true, this could be a very could sign for the game’s success, in addition to several positive reviews from those that have had the opportunity to dive into the game. The game was designed to appeal to longtime fans of the series while remaining appealing and accessible to newcomers to the series.
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is expected in North America this holiday season.
