DS providing entire incomes for Korean stores
We knew that the Nintendo hype train was making its way through Korea, and it’s been quite effective. So much, in fact, that it seems the DS Lite sales are the sole source of income for some shots, as detailed in this account sent to 4cr’s N Rumas:
“Without DS lite, we’d have virtually no income at all, and it’s been this way for months. Our little market alone ['Toad Market'] moves over 200 units a day, and while we don’t make any profit on the system itself, we make money off of the games. We also sell a good deal of imported Wiis on a daily basis. Nobody’s really buying 360s, the PSP is as good as dead, and PS3’s too expensive.”Â
Ads for the system and games like Brain Age and NEW Super Mario Bros. are what’s driving the hype, with commercials starring celebrities Dong-gun Jang and Na-young Lee advertising these products constantly on television.
