Rockstar will appeal Manhunt 2 ban by the BBFC

While bans have been placed on the sale of Manhunt 2 in various nations and an AO rating handed down in the United States, it seems that Rockstar will go ahead and appeal the decision by the BBFC.

The BBFC previously decided that Manhunt 2 had no place in their evaluation system and the organization refused to rate the game. The game cannot be sold legally in the United Kingdom without a rating from the BBFC. Such a ban has not happened in the UK since the 1997 game, Carmageddon, a game which was later submitted for appeal and allowed to be sold.

Rockstar is still officially “considering all its options,” but a source close to the company confirms that Rockstar will appeal the decision. The company believes that they could be able to release the game in about six weeks, however there is no indication as to whether the game will be altered and/or toned down before the appeal.

Thanks to Robert for the tip.

I really hope the ban gets lifted over in the U.K. and the ESRB tones it down to an M+ rating.

I want to play the game in its original form; not a watered-down version.
