Nintendo closing in on Sony’s market value
Following Wednesday’s trading, Nintendo’s market capitalization was at an astounding Â¥6.30 trillion (US$51 billion) after shares rose 1.4% to Â¥44,500. In comparison, the world’s two largest manufacturer’s of consumer electronics, Sony and Matsushita (parent company of Panasonic), have respective market values of Â¥6.64 trillion and Â¥6.23 trillion. All of this can be attributed to continued success of the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms as well as Nintendo’s chart-topping software titles.
