Nintendo DS to be implemented at Safeco Field

For all the Seattle Mariners fans out there upset that their team just dropped a series to the Chicago Cubs, you can cheer up knowing the Nintendo still loves you! As the owners of the Mariners organization, Nintendo will soon be implementing the DS Lite into events at Safeco Field to make things more interactive. You’ll be able to download special software to your DS from 17 different download stations upon entering the stadium. Check out some of the features below:

  • Watch the Mariners network broadcast of games in real time right on the DS from almost any seat in the stadium - some of the controversial plays they don’t show on the Jumbotron will still be able to be seen by fans.
  • Order food from your seat - use the DS Lite to order hot dogs, sodas, etc. using a credit card - which also keeps those long lines down at the ATMs where people are waiting to get more cash.
  • Access to players stats from all around the MLB.
  • Updated scores and information from other MLB games in progress.
  • Fans can compete against each other in trivia and word games.

…and that’s just the beginning! If the whole thing proves to be popular among Mariners fans, Major League Baseball may consider using the system to count All-Star votes and implementing the DS Download Stations for use in stadiums across the major leagues! Imagine, I could be watching Alfonso Soriano hit another 3-homer game at Wrigley Field, flip open my DS Lite, and order a hot dog in a few years. I wonder if Sony holds stake in an MLB team…if they did, could they be forced to implement DS Download Stations?

A portion of Safeco Field’s stadium will be reserved for fans to purchase the special edition Mariners DS Lite.

    Wait a minute…

    Live video? Trivia? Statistics?

I hate baseball, but this is awesome. They should do it for everything.
