What it would take for a MMO Pokémon game
We all want it. Even if you’re like me and generally hate MMOs, you would drop everything you’re doing for a chance to play a Pokémon MMO. The series just begs for it to be done, and yet Iwata has gone on record saying that Nintendo will never back MMO games. That doesn’t stop the speculation, though, as The Pokémon Company’s Tsunekazu Ishihara has left the door open to the possibility. I know for a fact that several of our forum members have been dying for one.
Broken Controllers takes a look at a few of the things that would need to be in place for a Pokémon MMO to be truly successful. A brief excerpt below:
2. Ever-evolving Gym Leaders: A big drawback of the Gym Leaders of the current Pokemon games is that you can’t challenge them to a rematch once you’ve defeated them once. A Pokémon MMORPG should have Gym Leaders that you can re-battle, and they should be able to change their fighting roster. It would get very boring battling the same Pokémon over and over.
…I thought you could re-battle them? I mean, I’ve never bothered in my copy of Emerald, but I was under the impression you could. Ah, whatever. Regardless, it definitely need to be in. Head on over to see some of the other things BC thinks a Pokémon MMO would need to be just right! Thanks to drktrpr1 for the heads up!
