In a recent Bloomberg article, it was revealed that approximately 44% of Wii owners were under the age of 18, compared to 27% of Xbox 360 owners being in that age group at the same time in its life, according to the NPD Group. For those that can do the math, that means about 56% of Wii owners are over the age of 18.
The IDC analyst group, in addition, predicts the Wii to sell 16.1 million units worldwide in 2007, whereas the PlayStation 3 is expected to sell 9.87 million, and the Xbox 360 9.69 million. Keep in mind that Nintendo’s projected 14 million Wii units manufactured is for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008, not December 31st of this year. The IDC’s prediction of 16.1 million is retroactive to January 1, 2007.
