Wii featured on cover of Fortune 500
Looks like the little console that could has made the big time. It’s on the cover of Fortune 500, and the magazine has a good amount of information in it. Nothing new, but maybe somethings you never knew before. In addition, there are several comments from third parties that make you smile at how quickly they’ve flip flopped.
- Wii remote production costs: ~$11.00
–Accelerometer: $2.50
–Basic Memory Chip: $0.25
–Audio Amplifier: $0.50
–Data Converter: $0.50
–Rumble Pack: $2.50
–Bluetooth Chip: $2.00
–Audio Translator: $2.00
–Plastic Casing: Unknown
–Wrist Strap: Unkown - $50 of the Wii’s price is profit, could be cut in future to counter PS3/360 price drops
- It costs $5 Million to develop Wii game, $20 Million to make a PS3 game
- Ubisoft: Nintendo is best console maker to work with
- EA: Nintendo is a pioneer
- “Wii 2.0″ could come in a few years with PS3 technology at affordable price (speculation)
- Wii and DS relation could become like Mac/iTunes with an iPod
Thanks to Robert for the heads up!

Wii 2.0???? What??? That’s BullShit!!!
I can see doing this in the handheld market (see DS Phat vs. DS Lite) but in the console market it’s just not fair.
It’s speculation on Fortune 500’s part. I’ll edit the post to make note of that.
