Dragon Quest remakes on the way

So one of the many four games I’m playing through at the moment is the Final Fantasy III remake for the DS from Square Enix. We also know they’re remaking Final Fantasy Tactics for the PSP and Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS, and I’m sure there’s many more that I’m forgetting as I’m distracted by the fact that the ice cream truck just drove by. Square Enix also controls the uber popular (in Japan) franchise, Dragon Quest. So why no remakes of those games?

Well, all that wondering may have just come too soon. It seems that SE is definitely planning some remakes according to CEO Yoichi Wada: “This summer, we’ll release Battle Road in arcades and Sword for the Wii. Following that, we’re thinking of a release for 9 once we’ve released remake versions and so forth.”

As usual, we have no details as to what DQ games will be remade and for what platform(s). Regardless, it will surely rake in money for the company and tide fans of the series over until Dragon Quest IX rolls around.

!!!! How appropriate that I am making a BLUE SLIME cake tonight!!

I must say, playing through Dragon Quest for the NES is QUITE taxing! It’s just LEVEL UP LEVEL UP so you can move to the next little part of the map and then LEVEL UP more! And then DIE!
