Word around Nintendo’s Media Summit is that Nintendo Power magazine isn’t going anywhere…from a certain point of view. It seems that Nintendo may be looking into licensing out the publication to a separate entity in another US publisher. Wired points out that this is how the Official Nintendo Magazine is handled in Europe – it’s run by a separate publisher all together. Of course, as we all know, this has led to ONM publishing faked Metroid Prime 3 and Excite Truck 2 screens on the internet.
It’s also of interest that this rumor comes around just months after the Official PlayStation Magazine, which had been published by Ziff-Davis, ended its run this past January. Maybe Nintendo might look to Ziff-Davis for taking over publication of Nintendo Power.
