Since retailers generally don’t begin taking pre-orders for games until the publishers give them the green light, the fact that you can now reserve Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is a big deal. While many feared that the game would be delayed until 2008, a financial briefing from Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata confirmed the game is on track for this calendar year. GameStop is listing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for August 2. Regardless of whether or not this is simply a placeholder date, it’s surprising to see the retailer boldly place the date much earlier than many anticipated and suggests the game will indeed be coming out pretty soon.
Nintendo doesn’t officially have a date listed for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption just yet, but word is that we’ll be hearing more information on Metroid not this, but next weekend. Stay on alert!
