It’s that time of year, high school juniors and seniors are enjoying the proms they’ve been waiting for several years to experience. Everyone imagines a fancy, elegant, night to remember, but of course these days those students end up needing more chaperons and supervision than the schools can supply. But hey, at least everything still looks classy. I think my high school used to even rent out the Shedd Aquarium for proms back when I was an underclassmen.
How many of those romantics hoping for the classy and elegant proms do you think cringed at the sights below, their prom? Honestly, I love Mario, but I would not have liked this for a prom theme. See that giant NES controller? Yeah, that was a functioning controller that let students play the game on-site.
The Last Boss had this to say: “These kids must have the happiest parents in the world. When high school students collaborate to make Super Mario Brothers their senior prom theme, it’s a nice way to let the school know that no one is getting laid later that night.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
