It seems there is a rumor stating that there is a strong possibility that Square Enix will announce at the upcoming Square Enix Party that they have been working on a Final Fantasy IV remake for the Nintendo DS, using the game engine from the recently released Final Fantasy III for the DS. It’s a very plausible rumor, considering that Square Enix seems maybe a little too interested in remakes and re-releases these days, though I’m sure fans of the classic Final Fantasy games won’t complain too much. Unless, of course, any of you recently purchased Final Fantasy IV for the Game Boy Advance.

If this rumor is true, it’d be awesome. I hadn’t gotten into Final Fantasy games all that much before, but I have a friend who introduced me to Final Fantasy VII (which I got through just over one disc of) and suggested I eventually get around to FFIV and FFVIII as well. I recently purchased FFIII on the DS for myself. Maybe I’ll finally get around to FFIV sooner than expected!
