Possibility for Final Fantasy VII on the Nintendo DS?
In an interview with CVG, Hiromichi Tanaka discussed many aspects of Final Fantasy III’s creation on the Nintendo DS platform: why it was done, how they went about doing it, and how much success the game’s release has enjoyed. Sandwiched in the interview was an interesting tidbit concerning the almighty FFVII game.
A lot of people are asking whether Final Fantasy VII will ever be available on DS?
Tanaka: The main thing is the timing. If we have time it is possible to do a remake of an original game but because we are at the time where the machines are changing with Wii, 360 and PS3 coming out, the development team tends to work on these games so that’s the way things are going at the moment.
Is FFVII on the DS a possibility? From the looks of it, it doesn’t seem from this interview that it’s a specific scenario that they’ve discussed over at Square Enix, but we know the idea’s come up. Right now, a FFVII remake for the DS isn’t a priority, as Tanaka and the company are looking to make new use of the 3 different home consoles on the market right now. Keep an eye out in the future, though, as Tanaka seems open to a FFVII remake on the DS.
