3.3 million VC titles downloaded, sales rates declining
In those financial meetings, Satoru Iwata revealed that over 3.3 million Virtual Console titles have been downloaded since launch. An impressive number indeed, however not so much when taken into context.
It was reported in late January that 1.5 million VC games were purchased and downloaded in the first two months, a rate of roughly .75mil a month. This new announcement puts the last three months at 1.8 million VC downloads, roughly .60mil a month. Is there a reason the number of downloads are dropping? Were new users at launch just downloading for the hell of downloading? Were releases like Super Mario World, Ocarina of Time, and Star Fox 64 not enough to get Wii owners excited? Does Nintendo need to create a new Wii interface that better informs casual Wii owners as to each week’s new games?

Part of the problem has to be with supply and demand. I have been sekking a wii points card for months. at the moment i have no money so it doesnt matter either way. But its kind of wierd that i couldn’t find a simple little card… I went to future shop, zellers, walmart and eb games nothing, so i think the demand is there, its just that people don’t want to use their credit card.
i dunno, i have 2200 wii points sitting in my account, and starfox and galaga are the only purchases made in the past 4 months.
It’s called: “Release Super Metroid”
I agree, the games have been ho-hum for quite some time!
Straight through early March, I was excited every Monday.
Lately not so much.
Bring out some titles to get me excited and I’ll buy ‘em!
Michaeltrouten - Check Target. All of the stores around here have plenty of cards in stock.
yeah, there aren’t any targets up in the great white north (Canada) or not that many at least, I live in ottawa, so FS, EB, and walmart is pretty much it. When i’m desperate i’ll try zellers and rogers. i only want donkey kong and zelda OOT. I really think nintendo is missing out here. if these games were priced at a quarter of their current price i’d be willing to bet money on them selling much more than four times as many games. I would be really interested in basically buying every single game above mediocre just for some cheap fun.
