The link below will take you to a letter by Robert Dawson, Ph.D., written to Opera commending the Internet Channel. Dawson’s son would normally get bored with gimmicky educational games on the internet and quickly quit, but having to simply point the Wii remote at the screen seems to hold kids’ attention longer, and somehow it manages to keep the kids physically engaged. His son accepted a challenge to attain a certain score on an online quiz game, and the boy kept at it until he achieved the goal.
Could the Wii and its level of interaction be the next big tool in supplementary education? Should this be something I bring up in my next ed. psych. discussion class? I really do think some companies and organizations will start seeing opportunities here and act on them.
