After impressive February numbers, Nintendo was able to once again do very well in the month of March. Data shows that in the United States, 508,000 Nintendo DS and DS Lite units were sold at retail, and 259,000 Wii units were moved as well.
The Wii led the three next-gen consoles in terms of sales, although it did not match the PlayStation 2′s numbers (280,000) due to the sales of God of War II likely inflating sales of the Sony system. Regardless, the Wii’s totals managed to best the Xbox 360′s total sales of 199,000, as well as the PlayStation 3′s own mark of 130,000. The Nintendo DS saw little competition, as the PlayStation Portable moved only 180,000, and the Game Boy Advance selling slightly less at 148,000.
The top selling Wii title for March ended up being WiiPlay, which sold 273,000 copies. Diddy Kong Racing DS led the DS charts with 189,000 copies sold.
