In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Square Enix’s Hiromichi Tanaka spoke about the company’s developing for multiple platforms and MMORPGs. As many know, Final Fantasy XI was a MMORPG that allows players to interact with each other whether they were using a PS2, PC, or Xbox 360. Tanaka talked about the company’s wishes to include MMORPG elements in the next Final Fantasy game which, as far as we know, is a direct reference to Final Fantasy XIII. Excerpt below.

Hiromichi Tanaka: …Also we now have Vista and the Nintendo DS, so it’s not only those three next-gen platforms but a whole variety of different platforms. It’s hard having this variety but it also gives us lots of opportunities…

The article is far from a hint as to a DS version of FFXIII, but it definitely doesn’t conflict with rumors we’ve been hearing. Head over for the rest of the article.
