While the people behind NiGHTS: Journey into Dreams have said once or twice that the game is a new story with all new characters and all new levels, there have also been occasions where they’ve said that we’ll revisit some familiar places. Now, while I believe Journey into Dreams is a new game and while I want to believe that as much as all of you do, JeuxFrance doesn’t think so, and we have to consider the rumors before the game’s revelation that the original game would be released somehow on the Wii. In an attempt to shoot down this rumor, I checked out Sega Europe’s NiGHTS page and to my surprise, every statement is vague enough that a remake with added bonus features could fit the description. Below is a translation of the JeuxFrance article, thanks to N+:
Sega releases images of NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams on Wii in the Swedish magazine Game Reactor. The player will play as NiGHTS again in what seems to be a remake of the original game (while including new content), and will use the Wii remote to control NiGHTS’ acrobatics in the sky of Nightopia. The release is planned for this winter.
Now, yes, while there are conflicting claims to the situation at hand, the fact is that there have been many more interviews in which the developers have said the game will be a brand new one. Take this report as you wish.
