Why Wii online will rock
I’ve generally not been huge on online games, but that may be because I don’t play PC games, and all my systems (except the Atari 2600, Game Gear, and PS2) are all Nintendo systems. While most of the games I’ve seen as “online” haven’t really appealed to me, games that naturally fun multiplayer modes, such as my GameCube version of Phantasy Star Online: Episodes I & II, have indeed drawn me in. My friends Chris, Lengkimly, and I, along with the occasional 4th player, would play through the game hours on end, calling each other up to head to Lengkimly’s dorm room (where we kept my GameCube) so that we could all get in on the fun.
WiiPlay.net has an article up talking about how many of Nintendo’s games have this fun multiplayer appeal, and why Nintendo’s titles have a ton of potential for online play. Sure, 1 player games with an online ranking system are fine and dandy, but if I’m gonna start playing online games, well, online, I’m going to want to be playing against 2 or 3 or more of my friends.
