Just how expensive might Rock Band end up being?

Internode Games Network takes notice of all the equipment necessary to play the upcoming Rock Band game, set for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday and for the Wii “eventually.” How much might it cost? Check it out:

Anyway. GameStop. According to them, you’re looking at US$60 for the game. Guitar controllers will also cost that much, a drum set is US$80 and a microphone sneaks in at US$40. These are, at this stage, all wired controllers, by the way. To kit out your loungeroom in order to play a decent game of Rock Band, you’re looking at… 2x guitar (lead and bass), 1x microphone, 1x drum set, 1x game… that’s somewhere in the ballpark of US$300. Mind you – for a game that’s only just been announced, these numbers are fairly suspicious and have likely been pulled out of someone’s hat, but it’s a reminder that anything that requires this much extra gear isn’t going to be cheap.

Or you can buy a guitar for $300 and learn to play it for real.

    Just offering another option.
