Gamasutra sat down with Hudson Entertainment president John Greiner and director of marketing John Lee and got an interview out of it that provided a plethora of information. Hudson, as you know, co-created the TurboGrafx-16 video game console back in the day, and now put those games on the Virtual Console as well as contribute new games to the market with the help of Konami. Check out some of the bits of interest below:

  • Much of Nintendo’s middleware is run by Hudson software
  • Nintendo owns shares in Hudson
  • Nintendo and Hudson have had a long and close relationship, and Greiner sees Nintendo as a mentor to Hudson
  • Nintendo was the one to approach Hudson about bringing TG-16 games to the VC
  • Hudson will bring PC Engine games over to VC if the fans want them
  • Hudson makes many mobile games and will do so in the future, but they have no intention of merely porting any to the DS. If they develop for the DS, it’ll be from the ground up
  • Hudson loves that developing for the Wii saves them money
