Guy wins a Wii from a claw vending machine

There’s always the possibility that this thing was staged, but I’ve seen arcade machines with Nintendo DSs and Game Boy Advances as the prizes. I guess it’s conceivable that this could be real. If that’s the case, I need to go out and find one of these things… win another Wii for a few quarters. Maybe on my next trip to Six Flags – I spent $5 in quarters trying to win a second DS there. Be warned, there’s so much swearing in the video, I think my IQ just dropped.

it wasn’t a claw machine. it was a stacker machine. different animals.

How it works is a block (or a set of blocks on the lower levels) goes back and forth horizontally. Your job is to press the button and stop it on the block beneath it. Less blocks come as you go up or if you miss.

video of stacker game in action. not the one that won the wii.

I’d say it was real, since that guy sounded as surprised as I would have been if I won. Those machines seem easy, but I swear it the top row must be rigged so that only every kth person can win. If it was just a pure timing puzzle, any decent gamer could win a prize in five tries.

but why would the guy be filming at that exact moment when the wii came up? Who films ppl play machine games? I still think its rigged. Wiis are so rare why would they put it in a game machine? Ppl dont even know it was in there so it cant be a marketing ploy.

after you win the stacker game you get to choose your prize. that’s why he started recording. because the guy won the stacker game and chose the wii.
