Nintendo Wii is a Gimmicky Toy for the Whole Family…

One of the biggest aspects of my life philosophy is obtaining a wide perspective, and being able to see anything from several angles. Sure, many of you have your Wii up on a pedestal, bathed in divine light with silk polish cloths at the ready. But the Wii offers something different that other game systems such as the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3, and even the Nintendo DS. You could say they complement each other, but is this the case for everyone? Or just a smaller group that you happen to be a part of.

Matt Brett is one of those people that has a different perspective. Sure he has a few issues I don’t agree with, such as the bashing of Zelda’s control system (which was an afterthought) and flat out proclaiming the Wii isn’t for gamers. But that’s based on my knowledge and experiences. Don’t be mistaken, though, Matt doesn’t regret buying a Wii as he and his family can often have fun with it. However, at this point in time it’s clear that the Wii has limited offerings in terms of in-depth games, game profiles, online play, and more.

Hopefully, some of the deeper games on the horizon, as well as the slim chance of significant changes to the Wii interface in the future, may change Matt’s mind. Still, I think it’s important to read his article to gain a little bit of perspective as to how other people besides yourselves think.
