Naka has no intention of working on NiGHTS at this time

This is why we need to be careful of what we read on SPOnG.

CVG tracked down Yuji Naka, creator of both Sonic and NiGHTS, to question him on his level of involvement in the rumored game. Yuji Naka left Sonic Team last year to form a new development team, Prope, that would give Naka the resources and staff he truly desired, rather than having to deal with Sega/Sammy’s restructuring of all Sega development teams.

Following the ONM teaser poster that strongly hints at NiGHTS for the Wii, Sega’s strange silence on the issue, and SPOnG’s repeated claims that a NiGHTS game under the direction of Naka, CVG can confirm the latter part of that list of events to hold no ground. When asked if he had any intent to work on projects involving his old SEGA properties such as NiGHTS, Yuji Naka gave a firm “At present, I have no such intentions.”

If ONM’s World Exclusive is indeed a NiGHTS game, it’s definitely not one of Naka’s projects. If this is the case, I’d rather it be a port or remake of the original game. I don’t know if I trust anyone else at SEGA right now with a new game in the NiGHTS franchise.
