The following is a bit from SPOnG’s article from late yesterday:
Speaking to representatives close to the project, we were told in no uncertain terms that a new NiGHTS game is about to be uncovered. NiGHTS will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Wii platform.
“Yes, there is a new NiGHTS coming, and coming quite soon actually,†we were told today by a representative close to the project who agreed to speak with us under terms of strict anonymity. “It’s a full game too, not a rehash of old NiGHTS for Virtual Console as some have said it might be lately. It’s a whole new game.â€
Once again, keep in mind that SPOnG has yet to provide a concrete reference for the information, claiming that all representatives wish to remain anonymous (which is understandable if true). Until the information is confirmed by the company, take it with a grain of salt. However, all signs are pointing to NiGHTS returning on the Wii.
SPOnG also claims that the title is indeed out of Sonic Team’s hands. Instead, Yuji Naka will helm the development of the new entry into his beloved franchise. The title will therefore be developed by Prope, a company recently started when Naka left Sonic Team likely due to frustrations with Sega during restructuring and the Sega/Sammy merger. A NiGHTS title would be the first game by the new Prope team, funded partially by Sega.
Again, I’d hold off on celebrating until Sega, Prope, or OMN officially announces the title. I’m pretty sure you won’t have to wait too long.
