Sony Chairman CEO Howard Stringer has given an interview on the show CEO Exchange (which has yet to be aired). In it, he briefly mentioned one of Sony’s competitors, Nintendo, in a rather good way.
“Wii is a wonderful device, but has a different target audience. If we fail, it is because we positioned PS3 as the Mercedes of the video game field. PS3 is after a different audience and it can be whatever it wants – a home server, game device, even a computer.”
It’s nice to see a Sony exec acknowledging the Wii’s appeal for once. While I can’t say much for the Sony vs. Microsoft side of things, both competitors seem to publicly welcome the Wii to the market.
