Best Buy moves Metroid back to 2008

A lot of retailers have started to be conservative with release dates, giving them time in case the title is delayed, and time to let publishers know exactly how many copies of each game they need.

But what’s too conservative? Best buy has seemingly pushed the pre-order date to December 31, 2007, which screams a 2008 release date for Metroid. Will the once-slated-for-launch title be delayed over a year and a half? We haven’t seen a new Metroid Prime game since 2004, but then again, Retro Studios has every intention of perfecting Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. With no hope for a release in the first half of the year, we optimists just have to hope for a pre-holiday release. Perhaps it will follow in the footsteps of both its predecessors and release on November 18th? Or perhaps the worst will happen.

I will now direct you back to a comment I made several weeks ago (if I could find it I would post it)

But I predicted that of all 3 games, Metroid will get the boot to 2008 even if it’s the furthest along.

    Why?

    Because I said so.
