Dance Dance Revolution to hit Wii in time for holidays

I was late coming into the DDR craze. My friends had all played it on their PS2s and whatnot, and I had seen people playing it insanely fast at the Illini Union. But I never really got into it. Aside from 6 songs against a friend at someone’s birthday party, I didn’t play the game until Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. That was a thorough amount of fun, and not just because of my friend Chris’ humorous narration/reading of the cheesy game dialogue. I’m totally going to be all over Hottest Party.

Nintendo Power’s April issue apparently confirms Hottest Party for release in the latter half of 2007. Infendo wrote a little bit about it, and one paragraph really struck a chord with me:

I’m curious as to how the dance platform will be designed – Since the game uses both the Remote and Nunchuk separately, Konami will either need to use the Gamecube ports or make the device communicate with the Wii via Bluetooth. And if they can do that, it really opens up possibilities for Wii peripherals.

I refuse to allow corded GameCube controllers to plug into my Wii. People occasionally want to come in playing Melee, but my Wii sits on a shelf above my TV – where it’s actually convenient to insert discs, press buttons, etc. Only Wii remotes and Wavebirds. I really do hope the Hottest Party dance pads are wireless, otherwise I’ll throw a fit trying to find good wireless, third party solutions.
