Can Nintendo’s Mii Concept Kill MySpace?

Sci-Tech Today seems to think so. Check out an excerpt below:

Gaming industry analyst Richard Doherty, research director for Envisioneering Group, said that it is a smart move by Nintendo. “Absolutely. Within a year, the Wii may be the most successful and valuable social-networking community on the Web,” Doherty said. “Nintendo is creating a framework for an open environment that will allow other developers to add value,” he explained. “Interesting third-party solutions could link fans of TV shows, gamers sharing tips, even home-schoolers.”

I loathe MySpace. I stopped using it when my Bulletin Board was nothing but spam and chain messages, and have since moved on to Facebook. A massive Mii social-network does seem like a possibility, and there’s a ton of potential there that could take the network far beyond even the current build of PlayStation Home. Will such a network ever see the light of day? Possibly. But I guarantee you Nintendo’s toying around with the idea right now.

  • Actually when Miis were first announced this idea was toyed around by some websites. I personally hope so, but Facebook will always remain top-dog in my opinion.
