Square-Enix’s game-making game
GDC may not be bringing much news from Nintendo at the moment, but that doesn’t mean other companies are going to be as secretive. Square-Enix’s Tadashi Tsushima is leading Project GB, previously referred to as SE’s “serious” game. The DS game is actually used internally within Square-Enix to teach game design by first having players (i.e., SE programmers) modify a Space Invaders-like shooter, and then allowing free development of simple games.
Apparently, Square-Enix is considering releasing the application to retail when it’s done and ready. Will you be checking it out?
