Speaking on the issue of the current Wii shortages in Japan, he stated the Japanese arm plans to work on expanding the production capacity of the system soon due to the demand for Wii being even higher than it was to start with. Part of this massive demand stems from Europe, where for the whole of the Christmas period roughly 700,000 units were sold. And, although without actually having firm figures to call upon, he mentioned the trend has been continuing since then. With this in mind, he confidently believes the target of six million units sold worldwide by the fiscal year-end on 31st March, 2007 can easily be hit.
