Wii has a lot of “horsepower under the hood”
CVG recently interviewed Geoff Thomas of Radical Entertainment about their upcoming Scarface: The World is Yours remake for the Wii. Thomas had some great words to say about the project:
“The Wii has a lot of horsepower under the hood and we’re making full use of it.
“We’ve overhauled our graphics engine to get the most out of the console by updating all of the shaders responsible for rendering the environment, vehicle, and characters. In many ways Scarface looks sharper on the Wii than it does on the PS2 and Xbox.”
Keep in mind that despite similarities to the GameCube’s architecture, developers are still both getting used to the Wii, as well as rushing to fill the void of games inevitable with a new game console. Remember that the Wii is supposedly two to three times more powerful than the GameCube, and once that power is unlocked in future Wii games, I’m pretty sure everyone will be adequately satisfied with the Wii’s graphic capabilities.
