Nintendo uninformed as to how voting channel works

When you view the results of a poll on the Everybody Votes Channel, you may get a map of the USA, for example, showing each state as green or pink, depending on how the votes turned out in each state. But some states are grey. What does that mean?

Advanced Media Network’s Matthew Wirgler sent an e-mail to Nintendo asking them about grey states and got the following response:

Hello,

That’s a good question, and those states look gray to me. I don’t know for sure, but I’d guess it’s either that we don’t have information from those states for some reason, or that they came out in a 50-50 tie.

I actually hadn’t thought to wonder about the grey before. Maybe the votes need a recount.

it is possible the "everybody votes" channel was developed by a third party, but you can't really blame this person for not knowing.
