Nintendo not spreading the love fast enough?
In a study on the lack of demand for a certain competitor’s system, talk of the Wii came up. One anonymous store manager gave the following comment:
“I’m not going to deny that there’s an amazing demand, but Nintendo’s supply chain could be a little better.”
Now, we know Nintendo has sold over 5 million units, and that Nintendo is supposedly producing them as quickly as possible. We’re led to believe that the demand is really off the charts. We’re at the point where stores continually stock up their tiny shipments in order to have enough for occasional re-launches of the system.
But what other factors are contributing to the supposed slow movement of Wiis to retailers? One competitor recently announced having shipped over 4 million of their console, and Nintendo recently passed 5 million Wiis sold, and yet the Wiis aren’t coming in fast enough? What’s going on?
