Interestingly enough, both games are key instruments for stabilizing our perception of both the Wii and Xbox 360’s core capabilities. They’ll key-note what the next-generation of gaming is supposed to be like from here on out, and what the competition will use as a measuring stick for success and achievement in interactive entertainment. So how do they measure up? And which one seems more worthy of your hard-earned dollars? Keep reading and find out.Â

Both Prime 3 and Halo 3 are expected later this year on the Wii and Xbox 360, respectively. Keep an eye on Cinema Blend for the rest of the series.

Japan really does have the coolest stuff! Some Nintendo/guitar loving individual made this amazing guitar (called The Family Comguitar) entirely from scratch! I seriously am in awe of the craftsmanship of this beautiful piece of art.

SSX Blur out today!

Published by matthew under Wii

If you happened to finish Sonic and the Secret Rings already, you have another game to possibly keep you busy until Super Paper Mario!

EA’S SSX BLUR CARVES ITS WAY TO RETAILERS TODAY

Intuitive On-the-Ground and In-the-Air Controls define the 5th Iteration of Beloved Franchise

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - February 27, 2007 - Experience the soul of SSXTM remixed, re-energized and fully realized. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced that SSXTM Blur, developed exclusively for Nintendo WiiTM, ships to North American retailers today, and on March 9 in Europe under the EA SPORTS BIGTM brand. The game fully maximizes the intuitive capabilities of Nintendo’s next generation console while staying true to the fast action-packed gameplay that you have come to expect from the franchise. Developed by EA Montreal, SSX Blur is huge air, insane speeds and monster tricks delivered in a fresh, innovative, Wii-a-fied package.

Experience the familiar as well as the unexpected. You’re still ripping down the slopes, but this time you’re carving and catching air with the revolutionary new on-the-ground and in-the-air control system. SSX Blur delivers the essence of the critically acclaimed franchise but takes it to the next level with the capabilities of the Wii. Use the Nunchuk to tear down the mountain and use the Wii Remote to paint a virtually unlimited array of aerial maneuvers. Every second of your SSX Blur experience will be maxed out with motion.

Your favorite characters return to the mountain to tackle 12 freshly laid tracks on three distinctly themed peaks. Feel the tunes intensify as you pick up speed and stick your tricks, with dynamic music mirroring your gameplay experience. Keep grooving, bombing and boosting to fill your groove meter and you’re set to let your Uber Tricks loose on the mountain. SSX Blur is on-the- ground and in-the-air excitement from top to bottom.

Now go hit up ‘em slopes!

Pimp Your Ride

Published by matthew under Nintendoness

Xzibit would be proud. Up on the auction block today is the Wii themed Scion car that you might have seen on Comedy Central during Thanksgiving. If not, it doesn’t matter now since you can own the car! This is proof that the Wii can make anything appear to be sexy, even the hideous Scion.

Next up, the Wii tries to revitalize Britney Spear’s career…

Homemade Wii light gun

Published by Christian under Wii

Before you all say anything, I’m aware that it’s a toilet paper roll. However, it’s still creative, it works, and it’s something that most of us hadn’t thought of.

It was made by Trey over at the Facebook group Matt and I run called “Nintendo Wii” (which, for the record, is the largest Facebook group dedicated to any next-gen system). He was bored one day and just decided to make it. He says he’ll try making a plastic one, so we may see his work again!

Made any creative contraptions of your own? Let us know!

Itagaki reaffirms interest in the Wii

Published by Christian under Wii

Tomonobu Itagaki, creator of the Dead or Alive series, has once again expressed interest in developing for the Wii. Unlike last time, however, he specifies this time that he would like to make a fighting game for the Wii.

When you see Wii Mortal Kombat or Ubisoft’s Red Steel, for example, does that give you any incentive to bring a Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden game to the Wii?

Itagaki: I haven’t played Mortal Kombat or Red Steel, so I don’t know about those two. However, when I played the Boxing game included in Wii Sports, I thought that it might be interesting to make a fighting game for the Wii.

Will we be seeing a new, different kind of Dead or Alive game on the Wii? Or perhaps an all-new fighting game on the Wii?

Microsoft commends Nintendo, plans own new strategy

Published by Christian under Nintendoness

020726petermoore.jpg

In a recent interview with GameInformer, Microsoft’s Peter Moore gave the following comments:

From a first-party point of view, it’s not just about E-rated games, it’s going to be about the experience that, quite frankly, Nintendo has done a tremendous job in capturing, in bringing back fun—if you will—to the gaming platforms.

In the rest of the interview, Moore goes on very briefly to talk about how they’ve got several plans in order to have a similar impact on the industry this year as Nintendo has done with the Wii. In Microsoft rethinking its 360 strategy and using the Wii as a model? Is a motion-sensitive controller inevitable for the 360’s future? It’s clear Nintendo’s made an impact with the Wii - the Wii is, afterall, the Revolution.

It’s a rare moment when the video is just as exciting as the game. Oh, and the narrator sounds a tad overenthusiastic. Just a tad…

WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ANNOUNCED FOR WII SHOP CHANNEL

Feb. 26, 2007

Today Nintendo adds three new classic games to the popular Wiiâ„¢ video game system’s Wii Shop Channel. The games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Pointsâ„¢ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

The Legend of Zelda®: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64®, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points): The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time reveals the genesis of the fantasy land of Hyrule, the origin of the Triforce and the tale of the first exploits of Princess Zeldaâ„¢ and the heroic adventurer Link. Vibrant, real-time 3-D graphics transport players into the fantasy world of Hyrule. The quest takes them through dense forests and across wind-whipped deserts. Players swim raging rivers, climb treacherous mountains, dash on horseback across rolling hills and delve into dungeons full of creatures that fight to the finish to put an end to their adventures. With immersive graphics, a sweeping story line, swashbuckling adventure, mind-bending puzzles and a touch of humor, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of Nintendo’s most epic challenges ever.

Bio-Hazard Battleâ„¢ (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): An army of biogenetic mutants has gone haywire, terrorizing the world and putting the future of the planet in jeopardy. In Bio-Hazard Battle, players must take on the mutant menace and restore order and harmony to the planet Avaron before it’s too late. Through eight levels of intense action, they’ll be up against some of the nastiest, most vile creatures they’ve ever seen, including things like mega amoebas, nuclear crabs, electroworms and gut-grabbing insects. They have four different Bioship fightercraft to choose from, each with unique handling capabilities and weapons systems. Hop into a fightercraft and save Avaron from certain doom in Bio-Hazard Battle.

Chew Man Fu (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, 600 Wii Points): A novel action-puzzle game set in the sacred towers taken over by the evil sorcerer, Chew Man Fu. It’s up to an apprentice female monk to free the towers and lift Chew’s curse to bring peace and fried rice back to the land once ruled by the Egg Roll Dynasty. The rules are simple. The objective is to clear each round by pushing or pulling four colored orbs onto their matching colored tiles. Beware the sorcerer’s minions in the tower who stand in the way. Players kick the orbs to take enemies out or to break down walls. They must overcome the obstacles and place the orbs on their respective tiles. Chew Man Fu also features the two-player Kick Ball minigame, as well as an Edit Mode for creating unique stages. The fun is endless.
