Many of you know the story behind the SNES CD, but if not, Nintendo had plans to release this glorious CD-ROM peripheral for the SNES during it’s glory years. Nintendo tried to work out an agreement with Sony to assist in the development. Obviously, all negotiations with Sony fell through..

And we all know what happened after that.

So I got to pondering how the gaming world would be different if Sony actually partnered up with Nintendo to release the SNES CD and other future systems.

Would we have ever seen the Playstation? Would Sega still be making consoles? How about Microsoft? Would the N64 have flopped as much as it did had it been disc based?

So many questions. Here’s an idea, let’s open this disscussion in the forums!
