GigaGamez has a new article up, and it’s another “What now for the Wii?” article. Excerpt below:
Though there’s plenty of talk about third-party support for Nintendo this time around, where are the actual innovative third-party games? So far, most of what we’ve seen has been ports of games with poorly executed Wii controls added in. That’s not what sells consoles. Original content that takes advantage of hardware is what sells consoles, but are we going to see enough of that to make a difference?
We’ve been seeing a lot of these articles pop up lately. The reason? People are just finishing up Zelda and WiiSports and are looking for something new…and have just realized there’s a drought of AAA games out there. I honestly think it’ll blow over. The Wii is a new concept, and just like the DS before it, it’ll take some time for companies (including Nintendo) to find that sweet spot in making games for the Wii. It took the DS nearly a year before the console ignited with Brain Training, Nintendogs, Animal Crossing, and Mario Kart, and it’ll take some time for developers to find concepts that “click” with the Wii. But it will happen. Give it some time, and rest easy knowing that you’ll have Corruption, Galaxy, and Brawl on your shelves this year.
