At least, that’s what research by the Liverpool John Moores University concluded.
Studying five girls and seven boys between the ages of 13 and 15, the participants played both the Wii as an “active” console, and various inactive consoles. Energy expenditure with the inactive consoles increased 60% over rest numbers, while energy expenditure shot up to 156% on the Wii. Based on the average gaming week among UK gamers, you could be burning near 1,860 calories a week.
