My Sims dated; new information from ONM

VideoGames Blogger has posted some information from the Official Nintendo Magazine on the upcoming My Sims game. The game is essentially a unique interation of The Sims for the Wii and Nintendo DS, and will land on those consoles by this Fall.

According to the magazine, you have about as much character customization as you do in The Sims, allowing you to change your character’s face, skin, clothes, etc. You start off in a small town, in which you can attract the other residents to come visit you. Likewise, you can visit everyone else, and there will be a relationship menu to allow you to keep track of how much the neighbors like (or dislike you). When characters in the whole town start to dislike you, however, they’ll move away to a “Volcano area.”
Likely in addition to being able to buy all your home furnishings, there is a block-building tool that allows you to design your own furniture from scratch, as well as edit your house’s constuction. There is also a new “Essence” feature allowing you to take the essence (the color or pattern) of objects in your house to transfer to other objects, so to better match the interior decoration of your home. Lastly, VGB says the Wii version will have 80 characters and that the DS version will have 30… I don’t know if these are pre-made characters you can select from to start with, or if those are the populations of your towns. I’m inclined to think the latter.

Look out for My Sims in Fall 2007.
