As this new console generation evolves our expectations of what games look like will be raised significantly. I mean look at how far the Xbox 360 pushed the envelope with Gears of War. Do not forget triple A titles will also be coming to the Playstation 3 down the road that will probably push the envelope even further. Can you imagine a God of War 3 as a 3rd generation PS3 game. Both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have incredible graphical potential. The Nintendo Wii on the other hand will probably top out visually relatively soon in the systems life. Will consumers get bored?
Honestly, some developers are starting to realize that perfect realism can’t be achieved in games, and even if they get close to it, it’s probably not what gamers want. Sure, it sounds good in your head, but when the games start looking too real, you begin to wonder why you’re inside playing rather than outside doing the real things.
