Nintendojo was able to get an interview with RetroZone, who some of you may know is making adaptors to plug your old NES and Super Nintendo controllers into the Wii’s GameCube ports to use on the old Virtual Console Games. Excerpt and link below.
ND: Have you looked at creating a RetroPort that would plug into the Wii remote instead of the GameCube ports?
RZ: That was a brief idea, but there are too many problems. The Wii remote plug is not standard, so it would have been more expensive and time consuming to reproduce it. The original controllers are also not designed with low power in mind, so the batteries would be drained quickly. Using the Wii remote also means the controllers would not be usable in GameCube games, like the Mega Man collection.
